Stone IPA
Stone Brewing was founded in 1996 in San Diego County by Greg Koch and Steve Wagner. Stone IPA, first brewed in 1997 to mark the company’s first anniversary, became its flagship and is widely credited as one of the beers that defined the West Coast IPA style before the term was in common use. Sapporo, Japan’s oldest beer brand, acquired Stone for $165 million in a deal that closed August 2022.
