Founded in 1849 and granted a royal warrant by Queen Victoria in 1877, Pol Roger became forever linked to Winston Churchill after he met family member Odette Pol Roger at a British Embassy party in Paris in 1944. Churchill reportedly drank roughly 42,000 bottles of Pol Roger in his lifetime, and the house released its prestige Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill — built from the 1975 vintage — in 1984, four years after his death.
